Polyurethane Ceramic Chute Liner

Polyurethane Ceramic Chute Liner

Polyurethane (PU) Ceramic Chute Liners combine the impact-absorbing flexibility of polyurethane with the extreme wear resistance of embedded ceramics (typically alumina or silicon carbide). These liners are ideal for high-impact, high-abrasion applications in mining, cement, and bulk material handling where pure ceramic liners may crack, and pure rubber liners wear too quickly.

Structure and Principle
Composition structure: usually composed of polyurethane, ceramic lining, and steel backplate. Ceramic tiles provide high hardness and wear resistance, polyurethane provides cushioning and bonding, and steel backplates enhance overall strength and rigidity. Working principle: Utilizing the high hardness of ceramics to resist material wear, the elasticity of polyurethane can absorb material impact energy, reducing damage to equipment caused by impact force, and the steel backing plate ensures that the lining plate can be firmly installed on the chute, working together to protect the chute from material wear and impact.

Parameter Value
Density (PU + Ceramic) 1.8–2.5 g/cm³
Hardness (Ceramic) Mohs 9–9.5
Hardness (PU) Shore A 80–95 (flexible but tough)
Operating Temp. -30°C to +100°C (PU limits; ceramics withstand higher temps)
Abrasion Resistance 5–10x better than manganese steel.

Property Advantage
Abrasion Resistance Ceramic tiles (Al₂O₃/SiC) provide 10–20x longer life than steel or rubber.
Impact Absorption Polyurethane backing prevents ceramic fracture under heavy impacts.
Lightweight Easier to install than steel or solid ceramic liners.
Noise Reduction PU dampens vibration and noise from falling material.
Chemical Resistance Resists oils, mild acids, and alkalis (depends on PU grade).

Layer Material Function
Wear Surface Alumina (Al₂O₃, 92–95%) or Silicon Carbide (SiC) tiles/blocks Hardness: Mohs 9 (Al₂O₃) / 9.5 (SiC).
Matrix Polyurethane (PU) – Cast or Molded Absorbs impact, bonds ceramics.
Backing (Optional) Steel Plate or Rubber Sheet Adds structural support.
Polyurethane Ceramic Chute Liner Advantages

High wear resistance: Ceramic tiles have extremely high hardness and can effectively resist the erosion and wear of materials such as ore and coal, greatly extending the service life of the lining plate. Compared with traditional metal lining plates, the service life can be extended several times or even tens of times.
Good impact resistance: Polyurethane has excellent elasticity and toughness, which can absorb the impact force generated by the flow of materials in the chute, protect ceramic tiles from impact damage, and reduce impact damage to the chute body.
Corrosion resistance: Polyurethane and ceramics both have a certain degree of corrosion resistance, which can resist the erosion of some corrosive materials or chemicals, and are suitable for various harsh working environments.
Easy installation: It can be customized according to the shape and size of the chute, and fixed on the chute by bolt connection, welding or bonding. The installation process is simple and fast, which can greatly shorten the time for equipment maintenance and replacement of lining plates.
Lightweight: Compared to all metal chute liners, polyurethane ceramic chute liners are lighter in weight, making them easier to handle and install, while also reducing the overall weight load of the chute.

Polyurethane Ceramic Chute Liner Comparison with Alternative Liners

Liner Type Wear Resistance Impact Resistance Installation Ease Cost
PU + Ceramic ★★★★☆ ★★★★★ ★★★★ Medium-High
Pure Ceramic (Al₂O₃) ★★★★★ ★★ ★★ High
Steel (AR400/500) ★★ ★★★★★ ★★★ Low-Medium
Rubber (Natural/Synthetic) ★★ ★★★★★ ★★★★ Low

Polyurethane Ceramic Chute Liner Description

Polyurethane Ceramic chute liner is compounded by polyurethane sheet, flat, cyliner or spherical alumina ceramic tiles and steel plate through vulcanizing process. And then use a high-strength organic adhesive to bond the ceramic liner to the inner wall of the steel the equipment to create a strong and cushioning anti-wear layer. Polyurethane Ceramic chute liner is high wearable, high cut-resistant, and super impact wear resistance. It is magically suitable under condition of systems conveying lower burning point materials, and outstanding feature of powerful impact.

It combines the advantages of high hardness and wear resistance of ceramics, high impact resistance and elastic properties of polyurethane, and provide wear protection in the process of conveying bulk materials.

Steel backing plate and bolts make mount and locate more easily. Rubber ceramic liner can be adjusted easily up or down to achieve the best fit.
