Main application areas
The first and most severely damaged and worn overcurrent components in slurry pumps are the key areas for the application of ceramic lining plates, mainly including:
Impeller
Sheath/volute (Casing/Volume)
Front/Rear Liners

Core advantage: Dual improvement of lifespan and efficiency
Practical applications have shown that this replacement can bring huge benefits:
Doubling lifespan: This is the core advantage. Under severe wear and tear conditions, traditional metal parts of slurry pumps may fail within 10 days, but with the replacement of ceramic lining, the service life can be extended to 3 months. In a more optimized design, the continuous operation cycle of the pump has been significantly extended from 3 months to over 12 months. Research has shown that the application of ceramic materials can generally increase the lifespan of slurry pumps by more than twice.
Significant economic benefits: The extension of lifespan directly reduces the cost of downtime maintenance and spare parts replacement. A real case is that retrofitting only one tailings slurry pump can save about 80000 yuan in maintenance and spare parts costs annually, while reducing unplanned downtime by more than 90%.
Dealing with complex working conditions: Ceramic materials not only have extremely high hardness, second only to diamond, but also have good corrosion resistance, making them very suitable for handling slurries with both solid particle erosion and acid-base corrosion.

Two mainstream implementation methods
There are currently two main ways to apply ceramic liners to slurry pumps:
Ceramic metal composite structure: This is the most mainstream approach. In the easily worn areas of components such as impellers and protective plates, use high-strength adhesive to stick ceramic blocks onto the metal frame. This not only utilizes the wear resistance of ceramics, but also preserves the strength and toughness of the metal matrix. Some patented technologies have also achieved segmented design and individual replacement of ceramic blocks, reducing maintenance costs. Jizhong Energy and Jiangxi Naipu Mining Machinery and other companies have relevant practices and patents for such products.
Full ceramic lining: A complete inner liner made of ceramic materials such as silicon carbide (SiC) is installed inside the pump body to form a closed vortex chamber. This method can achieve zero contact between metal and material, but the production difficulty and cost are relatively higher.
In general, installing wear-resistant ceramic lining plates on key parts of slurry pumps is a mature technological path to solve the problem of wear and achieve cost reduction and efficiency improvement through material upgrades.
